Field (Goal) Position

If the New England Patriots want to win the Super Bowl on Sunday evening, they better get Stephen Gostkowski a tremendous amount of reps during practice this week in Indianapolis.

Gostkowski played in the Super Bowl in Glendale, Arizona. That’s the only Super Bowl where the Patriots lost by three points.

Gostkowski hopes to give New England its four Super Bowl win in the rematch against the New York Giants at Lucas Oil Stadium.

New England has won three Vince Lombardi trophies – all by three points. They are 3-3 all-time as a franchise in pro football’s biggest game of the season. Think three is a magic number? It’s Gostkowski’s jersey number. Obviously.

Gostkowski’s never missed a kick in the building where they will play Sunday’s Super Bowl. He’s 8-8 against the Colts. Then again, he doesn’t have the pleasure of facing lowly Indianapolis. Instead, Gostkowski and his teammates get the hot-as-a-firecracker Giants in the title game.

All of this means very little to the Giants. New York won the last meeting against New England – by three points.
