Yup, Rory McIlroy shot a 65 in the first round. Again.
McIlroy sleeps on a three-shot lead in the 111th U.S. Open championship at Congressional Country Club. He carded six birdies and zero bogeys on a day where red numbers were the order of the day. He’s in complete control of a major championship — again.
You may remember Augusta. I know Rory does. That’s all McIlroy talked about in his press conference on Tuesday afternoon. McIlroy said he learned a number of things after his 80 on Masters Sunday when he tossed away his first major championship.
After round one, I believe him.
