Today Is Opening Day

Today is Opening Day.

Not tomorrow. Or Monday. Today.

Today, it begins. 2,430 regular season games. (At least) 21,870 innings of baseball.

The Yankees could lose today. (Weather permitting)

We are all in first place at the start of the day.

Today, you should have a hot dog for lunch and boast about your knowledge of the infield fly rule.

(Time for a stretch. )

Everything is measured in feet and miles per hour today.

It’s smallball and homers. Uncle Charlie and maybe even an eephus.

The defending World Series champions start their season on the road.

We’ll see Albert the Great, “The Freak” and Derek Jeter.

Today, I’ll buy Cracker Jacks for all of the baseball fans in the newsroom.

True, the Orioles open their season tomorrow in Tampa.

Enjoy the bunting at the six stadiums this afternoon.

Today is Opening Day.
