Round 3

Expect a close game on Saturday.

Like you didn’t see that coming.

The Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers hit the dance floor 17 times between 2003-2010. The Steelers won nine times, the Ravens won eight games. That’s close. Ten of those games were one-possession games.  According to a Tweet from ESPN’s Trey Wingo, both teams scored a grand total of 302 points each during that time period. That’s a little eerie.

Both teams finished the regular season with a record of 12-4. Both teams won road games against the other team in the regular season. The Ravens are 5-3 on the road and the Steelers are 5-3 at home.

Stats are fun (to some people), but what does this mean?

“This is World War III to us. This is definitely Armageddon,” Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs said on Monday.

So, there’s that.

I never understood why people automatically think this game will be a defensive showcase. Sometimes stats lie to us. Just ask fans of the Oregon Ducks and Auburn Tigers.  Don’t be surprised to see a shootout at Heinz on Saturday.

Winning three straight road wild card games in a dominant fashion should impress Baltimore fans. They deserve a chance to amp themselves up this weekend for the showdown in the ‘Burgh.

It’s not the Wild Card round anymore.

Welcome to the ultimate divisional round between two of the best teams in football.

The Road To Dallas only stops two more times. Time to get out your boarding pass, fellas.
