Mambo Number Five

“I don’t get many things right the first time
In fact, I am told that a lot.” – “The Luckiest” by Ben Folds

I thought they were going to play the Colts. We all did.

The Baltimore Ravens got their first break of the postseason on Sunday when the Oakland Raiders beat the Kansas City Chiefs, knocking the Chiefs down to the 4-seed in the AFC and giving every Ravens fan another glass of optimism for a postseason run.

I never thought the Ravens would end up in Kansas City for the Wild Card round. That’s the beauty and unpredictable nature of sports.

Joe Flacco and the Ravens offense limps into the playoffs with a pair of less than inspiring efforts in Cleveland and against Cincinnati. Flacco only threw for 125 passing yards on Sunday against one of the worst teams in football. True, the game didn’t matter that much after Pittsburgh got off to a sparkling start against Cleveland. But drive – and many scoring drives – remain missing for the home crowd in the probable last game at M&T this season.

This team hasn’t clicked just yet for an entire football game. That’s both good and bad news. If they have four stellar games left in them, the Ravens can win the Lombardi Trophy.

They’ve already missed the Colts. Talk about the biggest win of the season.
