On the way back from two trips outside of the press area, I’ve missed both runs this afternoon as the O’s and Angels play on in the 4th inning at Oriole Park.
That’s tough to do.
A Morales RBI triple brought in the Angels first run of the afternoon. Then it got interesting.
On a ground ball back down the first base line, catcher Chad Moeller gathered himself to throw down to first for the final out of the inning. Hitting Howie Kendrick in the back with the throw, first base umpire Jim Reynolds ruled that Kendrick ran out of the base line and he was out.
Upon further review – which umpires have the technology to look at, but cannot reverse a call unless it’s a controversial homerun – Kendrick should have been ruled safe and the run from third should have scored.
It didn’t and we are still tied at 1 in the 4th.
