March Blandness?

How can anyone say its boring?

A day into the 2009 NCAA Basketball Tournament and the general feel of day one reads like something in the obituary section of the newspaper.

Dull?

Pedestrian?

Anti-climatic?

Come on!

Since everyone in America (even the President) fills out a bracket and sneaks more than a peek during the first two days of the tournament, we all enjoy highlighting our teams on the road to the Final Four.

Even if every game was a 20 point spread, everyone should care about the tournament. By giving the small to mid-major conference a chance to play with the BCS conferences, this tournament does something no other marquee event does. California State Northridge has a shot against Memphis. American University can hang with Villanova. Western Kentucky actually beat Illinois.

And it’s only the first day.

Do me a favor. Watch the games tonight. Pretend you are 10 years old and enjoy the magical effect of the NCAA Tournament.

After all, you have a bracket already filled out, right?
