Sluggish Start

We’re only eight minutes into the tournament and the Miami Hurricanes look like they can’t wait to get out of Atlanta. Shooting 24% from the field early in the game, the Canes look tired and slow. They are 0-6 from 3-point range (that includes a pair of airballs) and Mclinton is only 1-4 shooting from the field.

Virginia Tech likes to share the wealth. Six players have at least one field goal as they continue to punish the Hurricanes inside and shoot lights out from the perimeter. It looks like our officiating crew this afternoon is whistle-happy, so keep an eye on the team that wants to take it to the basket.

In other tournament action, Louisville is dominating Providence in the Big East Quarterfinals, Minnesota takes an early 11 point lead on Northwestern in a bubble-filled Big 10 tilt and Xavier shows why they are the best in the A-10 with a big lead on St. Louis.

  1. Perhaps Miami has been down-graded to a tropical depression.
