Crazy Eighth

Pitching a nearly perfect game so far against the best team in the division, Alfredo Simon finally looks like a pitcher with an 8.10 ERA.  Grooving a fastball to Evan Longoria in the 8th inning, the Tampa Rays star hit a 410 foot bomb off of Simon to cut the O’s lead to two runs.

Simon chopped five runs off his ERA in a gem that almost went eight full innings. Apparently the 24th out is the hardest one to record. Striking out six and limiting the Rays offense to only seven hits, Simon sits in position to pick up his first major league win.

If the bullpen, and Jamie Walker, can help out.
