A Late Lead

Hey, they’re winning.

In front of an announced 15,215 people at Oriole Park, the O’s take a 3-1 lead into the 6th. Getting a very good start from Alfredo Simon, Baltimore looks to utilize the small ball method of baseball to parlay six hits into three runs and a lead late in the game.

In six innings, Simon has tossed 70% of his pitches for strikes and recorded four strikeouts in the process.

Thanks to a poor pinch hitting performance in the first game, Brian Roberts has to play in the nightcap. So far, so good as B-Rob has a hit and a RBI. Shortstop Juan Castro also a hat and a RBI and an unofficial webgem. Snarling one away in the second inning, Castro might want to plate his glove with a fine layer of gold if he continues with more defensive gems like that.

Guillermo Quiroz just doubled for the second time against the Rays in the second game. Baltimore holds a 4-1 lead as they play in the home half of the 6th.
