Middle Of The Second

A pitch after they pumped in the artificial chant of “CHARGE!” into the Oriole Park seating bowl, Adam Jones obliged. Blistering a fastball to the base of the right field scoreboard, Jones leads his day off with a double and moves Nick Markakis to third base. Aubrey Huff reverts back to his 2007 season with a lethargic strikeout for the second out of the inning. Oscar Salazar ends the threat after Evan Longoria makes an above average play at third and throws to first for the final out of the inning.

It’s like bizarre world at Oriole Park this afternoon. The majority of fans are cheering for the Rays.

This doesn’t happen at their own ballpark.

While some Oriole fans realized they were playing baseball this afternoon, a number of Tampa fans want to count down the magic number to a possible American League East divisional title. Even after almost six months, I can’t believe Tampa sits less than a week away from winning a division that includes the Yankees and Red Sox.
