Did I miss anything from where my last post left off?
Oh, right. Tiger shot a 30 on his second nine of the second round the Open.
Woods will tee off around dinner time tonight when the Open makes it scheduled primetime debut with third round play from Torrey Pines. If someone else (Appleby, Els, Whoever) can finish Saturday’s round ahead of Woods, Tiger can then make the impossible a reality.
Woods has never won a major tournament when he did not have the 54 hole lead. He’s currently playing in his first competition since The Master’s. Tiger just came off of a knee surgery that most people can’t recover from in the time span between majors, much less perform at the highest level at the United States Open.
Can anyone catch him? Down by just one shot with 36 holes to go, Tiger has that look. It’s the same look he had at Augusta in ’97 and Pebble Beach in 2000. Both of those majors were still golf tournaments at the midway point and then Tiger drove away from the field with Formula One precision.
WBAL-TV starts Open coverage at 4:00 and it lasts all night long. If you are reading this, I am certain you’ll be along for the ride
