In his first major tournament after surgery to remove a growth on his diaphragm, Trevor Immelman soars to the top of the leaderboard at The Masters. In the official release to announce his injury, it says the growth was the size of a golf ball. How ironic. It’s great to see Immelman back and improving a golf game that will likely produce a major championship sometime soon – perhaps this weekend.
As we wrap up the first round, Immelman is tied with Justin Rose and Brandt Snedeker. Only 20 players are currently under par and that number doesn’t include Tiger Woods – he’s at even par. An interesting leaderboard as we approach cut day at Augusta.
These names may not be around over the weekend: Woody Austin, Tom Watson and Fred Couples.
